Season: The Tulare County golfer of the year shot a 69 to take medalist honors at the Division III Valley championships. Shot 77 at individual Valley championships, and closed out his year with a 75 at Southern California Regional championships.
Colton Phillips
School: Monache
Grade: Sophomore
Season: Shot 81 at Central Area tournament to lead Marauders to Division I title. Followed that up with a 77 at individual Valley tournament and finished his season with a 76 at Southern California Regional tournament.
Dakota Rhea
School: Redwood
Grade: Sophomore
Season: Shot a 72 to earn medalist honors at Central Area championships. Finished his season with an 81 at Individual Valley championship tournament. His 82 at final WYL mini tournament of season qualified him for Area.
Hunter Forner
School: Mt. Whitney
Grade: Senior
Season: Shot 79 at final WYL mini tournament of the season to qualify for Central Area. Continued his steady play with a 73 at Area to qualify for Individual Valley championships tournament where he shot a 78.
Parth Verma
School: El Diamante
Grade: Sophomore
Season: Shot 79 at final WYL mini tournament of the season to qualify for Central Area championships. Stayed consistent with another 79 at Area to qualify for Individual Valley championships. Finished his season with a 77 at Valley.
Coach of the Year
Kurt Saltzman
School: CVC
Season: Led the Cavaliers to a fourth Central Sequoia League championship in his five seasons as head coach. Also led the team to a second straight Central Area Division II title. CVC had the top overall team score at the Central Area tournament, beating Division I champion Monache.
“We had a great season with a lot of young guys. We had only one senior. We progressed every week and got better and better, bringing along the young guys. It looks good for the future, but this season was strong. It was a downer not to win the Valley championship, we were in the place to do it, but we have high hopes for next year.”
