ALL-USA Watch: Michael Gettys

While Gettys has been used on the mound, there’s little question his future lies in the outfield.

“I’ll play wherever they put me, but I think I would be a great center fielder,” Gettys said.

Until the regular-season American Family Insurance ALL-USA baseball team comes out in June, we’re looking at players who have a chance to be on that team.

Baseball future: The senior has committed to Georgia but is seen as a possible first-round draft choice. He has thrown 100 mph from the outfield and has run a 6.4 60-yard dash, giving him plenty of skills to be a strong outfielder.

Best recent outing: On Tuesday, the outfielder-pitcher from Gainesville, Ga., led the Red Elephants to a 9-6 defeat of Loganville by hitting two doubles and a homer.

Gettys’ take: “I just try to play every day and try to help the team win. It’s about being consistent at the plate. It’s baseball, hitting comes and goes. You can’t get down about it, you have to keep going.”
