Allen, Elkins score 1,000 points

By

Pisgah junior Brooklyn Allen and Mountain Heritage senior Destiny Elkins are two of the latest Western North Carolina basketball players to reach 1,000 career points.

Allen accomplished the feat in Friday’s 73-33 home win over Roberson. She had 24 points, Sydney Singleton added 14 and Ashley Penland had 13 for the undefeated Black Bears (4-0).

Elkins scored 27 points Friday as the Cougars eased past North Buncombe, 79-52, in Burnsville. She was honored prior to the nonconference game for her 1,000th point and is now up to 1,043 for her career.

Allen (guard) and Elkins (forward) were both Citizen-Times All-WNC selections for the 2013-14 season.
