Allen needed 50 second-half points to rally past Arlington Martin, 69-54, at Denton’s Apogee Stadium and advance to the Class 6A Region I final next week against the Euless Trinity at 2 p.m Saturday in a return to Apogee.Two-time defending state champion Allen won for the 40th

consecutive time dating back to 2012.

A week after needing a 26yard field goal as time expired to get past DeSoto, Allen needed a strong third and fourth quarter to rally past Martin (10-3), which had taken a 28-19 lead on its first possession of the second half. Allen pulled away in the fourth quarter by taking a 48-41 lead as junior Jaylon Jones returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown after Martin had tied 41-41 lead with 10:40 remaining.

Allen’s Anthony Taylor returned an interception 46 for a score to give Allen a 55-41 with 7:46 remaining. Martin pulled within 55-46 with 5:38 left on Kristian Levy’s 4-yard pass. Allen retook a 62-46 lead with Keon Williams’ 10-yard touchdown run with 4:02 remaining. Allen quarterback Kyler Murray had a 61-yard scoring run with 44 seconds left.

A heralded Texas A&M commit who is 39-0 as a starter, Murray ended with 197 yards rushing with four touchdowns on nine carries. Allen senior Keon Williams had 146 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Martin quarterback Eric Walker returned after missing the last month with a foot injury to complete 17-of-28 passes for 241 yards. Martin junior running back Nic Smith had 266 yards rushing on 40 carries with two touchdowns.

Tyler 49, Rockwall-Heath 21

WACO _ Tyler jumped out to a 21-0 lead and used its swarming defense to shut down Rockwall-Heath’s usually balanced offense. Tyler (11-2) plays the McKinney North/Mansfield Lake Ridge winner (Saturday game) in the Class 5A Division I Region II final.

Tyler quarterback Geovari McCollister passed for three touchdowns while running backs Jeremy Wilson and Nicholas Cain combined for 205 yards rushing with four touchdowns.

Rockwall-Heath senior quarterback Jordan Hoy and running back Tyler McCalister combined for 279 yards rushing on 50 carries. Heath pulled with 35-21 with nine minutes left on a 100-yard kickoff returne by Chandler Rashbrook. Tyler scored the final two touchdowns on runs by Wilson and Cain.
