One of Minnesota’s most highly sought after boys basketball recruits, Amir Coffey, is out for the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.
Coffey is ranked as the top player in the Class of 2016 in Minnesota by 247 Sports Composite and ESPN.com has him as the No. 24 player overall in the class.
The 6-7 small forward from Hopkins (Minnetonka) went up for a rebound in Tuesday night’s game against Burnsville and landed awkwardly and had to limp off the court. He is expected to undergo surgery.
Coffey has offers from Minnesota, Iowa State, Michigan State, Miami, Arizona, among others.
