The Ankeny boys bowling team surpassed the 2,800-point mark for the third consecutive time in a triangular meet Thursday at Premiere Bowling.
Southeast Polk posted a score of 2,987 to win the boys’ meet. Ankeny was next with a 2,803, followed by Clarke (Osceola) with a 2,711.
Nate Anderson bowled a 388 series to lead the Hawks, who are now 2-4 overall. He was the fourth different bowler to post Ankeny’s high score this season.
Garrett Schaeffer had a 371 series, including a 213 in his second game. Tyler Follett bowled a 352, Josh Macklin had a 348, Collin Runyan rolled a 343, and Nolan Baskins added a 299.
The host Rams also topped the girls’ field with a score of 2,278. Clarke finished with a total of 2,010, followed by Ankeny with 1,969.
Katie Brown bowled a 313 series to pace the Hawkettes, who dropped to 0-6 on the season. Sydney Sears had a 251, Katelyn Couchman followed with a 248, Tehhnesha Van Roekel rolled a 240, and Kelsi Ransom had a 215.
Boys top Mason City
The Hawks earned their first win of the season Dec. 9, defeating Mason City during a triangular meet at Plaza Lanes.
Johnston topped the boys’ field with a score of 2,916. Ankeny posted a season-high total of 2,872, followed by the Mohawks with 2,600.
The Hawks trailed Johnston by 149 points after the individual rounds. Ankeny then closed the gap during the baker’s games, outscoring the Dragons by 105 points.
Macklin led the Hawks with a 445 series, the team’s top individual score this season. He bowled back-to-back games of 232 and 213.
Schaeffer had a season-high 392 series. Baskins bowled a 353, Follett had a 349, Chase Van Blair rolled a 340, and Wyatt Jamison added a 321.
Johnston also topped the girls’ field with a score of 2,552. Mason City posted a 2,450, followed by the Hawkettes with a season-high total of 2,110.
Brown led Ankeny with a season-high 322 series, Sam Jamison bowled a 284, Couchman had a 246, and Van Roekel rolled a 241. Ransom and Brooke Lincoln each finished with a 217.
