BOYS SOCCER: Cardinals rout Blazers
Vincent Mosey and Trey Bartkus each scored twice as Seton Catholic defeated National Trail 8-0 Thursday.
Michael Haber, Jake Leverton, Cliff Dickman and Colten Pipenger also scored for the Cardinals (1-0), while Mosey, Dickman and Maria Stiens each had one.
Andrew Willett had seven saves for the Blazers, while Dickman and Haber split halves for the Cardinals.
Seton plays at Milan on Monday.
BOYS SOCCER: Red Devils fall
MUNCIE, Ind. – Muncie Burris defeated Richmond 3-1 Thursday.
Denis Herrera scored Richmond’s only goal.
The Red Devils (0-2) play host to Franklin County next Thursday.
VOLLEYBALL: Pats sweep Panthers
KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. – Carlea Handley had 16 kills and three aces and Allison Kassens had nine kills to go with six aces and 11 digs as Union County defeated Knightstown 25-22, 25-14, 25-6 Thursday.
Bella Pavey had 28 assists and four digs, while Micaila Rosenberger added five digs.
VOLLEYBALL: Knights win TEC thriller
UNION CITY, Ind. – Northeastern opened Tri-Eastern Conference play with an exciting 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 15-11 victory at Union City Thursday.
Lindsey Ward had six aces for the Knights (1-0, 1-0), while Heaven Stegall had four aces and seven kills.
Tatum Jordan had a team-high 15 kills, Kaitlyn Shaffer had eight and Morghan Foust added six, along with three blocks.
Courtney Wise led the Indians with eight kills and four aces, while Baylee Hartman added seven kills.
Katie Rismiller had 25 assists and Peyton Dean led UC with 20 digs.
Northeastern travels to the Jay County Invitational Saturday face Marion, Anderson, Jay County, all Class 4A teams.

VOLLEYBALL: Rockets open with win
Union opened the season with a thrilling 17-25, 25-17, 25-19, 19-25, 15-10 Mid-Eastern Conference win over Blue River Thursday.
DeAnn Kauffman had 24 kills, 17 digs, and two aces to lead the Rockets (1-0, 1-0), Beth Jenkins had four kills, two aces and 34 assists; MacKyndsea Burke had 17 digs, Faithlan Ellis had five kills, and two solo blocks.
Mallory Green had six kills, two aces and seven digs and Rylee Davis added three kills and a solo block.
Union hosts eight teams in the the Union Invitational Saturday.
JV score: Blue River won 25-7, 25-16; Alena Trojanova had three aces; Sydney Cox had six assists, one ace; Hayley Johnson had one ace and two kills for Union.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Ind. – Lincoln won in five over Eastern Hancock on Thursday, 25-21, 19-25, 14-25, 27-25, 17-15.
Kiersten Merida had 24 assists and 10 digs for the Golden Eagles, while Kylei Klein added 17 kills, eight blocks and two aces, Sara Maley 24 digs and five aces, Madison Siggers five kills, nine digs and three aces and Brooke Crouch 10 digs.
Lincoln (1-1) plays Saturday in the Union Invitational.
JV score: Eastern Hancock won.
VOLLEYBALL: Rebels take Spike from Falcons
LYNN, Ind. – Randolph Southern defeated Winchester 21-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17, 16-14 to claim the Randolph County volleyball traveling Spike Thursday.
Winchester coach Julie Smiley said the Spike has been with the Falcons for five years.
Leah Malkey and Randi Phenis each had seven kills to lead the Falcons (0-3), while Emily White added 28 digs and four aces and Phenis added 24 digs.
Morgan Friend had 18 digs, while Rachel Brumfield set for 14 assists.

CAMDEN, Ohio – Preble Shawnee improved to 4-0 with a 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-16 victory over Eaton Thursday.
Meghan Puckett had 14 kills and six blocks for Eaton (0-1), Jackie McCafferty had 14 digs, Allison Collins added eight kills.
Jordyn Worley had 14 assists and six digs, while Emma McKinney had 13 assists and six digs.

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Centerville won its season opener 25-18, 25-6, 25-14 over Knightstown Wednesday.
Ally Cox had 18 assists, six aces and seven digs, while Emily Jones had nine digs and freshman Lanie McClanahan added six kills and eight digs.
The Bulldogs had 16 aces as a team and 10 blocks, including three solos.

Megan Schroeder had 27 digs and Rosie Chimenti added 22 assists for the Cardinals (1-0).
Lauren Weston had 13 digs and four kills for Lincoln (0-1), Sara Maley had 14 digs, Kylei Klein added 12 kills, Cassy Mattingly had seven kills and Alexus Meltzer added six.

MODOC, Ind. – Winchester placed third for both boys and girls on Thursday in the Ethan Cheesman Memorial run at Union.
Union City’s Alexi Bocaengra took second and Emma Baron was fourth in the girls race, while Winchester’s Sophia Wickersham was fifth and Falcon teammate Kelly Graft finished sixth.
Winchester’s Jamesin Parker was sixth in the boys race, while Todd Solomon was 10th.
Monroe Central won the girls race and was second in the boys.
Winchester and Union City return to action Saturday in the Monroe Central Invitational.
