Boys basketball: Falcons rise to 2-0

First-year Winchester coach Matt Fine was a winner in his home debut Tuesday as the Falcons stopped Delta 54-42.

Kiante Enis scored 24 points to lead Winchester, while Alan Brutchen added eight rebounds.

The Falcons surged to a 19-4 lead.

“Our kids were dialed in mentally with what they were trying to do,” Fine told the Muncie Star Press. “I told them before the game that if we weren’t going to be physical and rebound, we weren’t going to win the game.”

Winchester’s Alan Brutchen led his team with eight rebounds in the win.

Winchester (2-0) plays host Friday to Wapahani.

Boys basketball: Wes-Del edges Union City

Wes-Del edged Union City 57-55 on Tuesday.

Isaac Davison scored 21 points for the Indians, while Kyle Whitesel netted 18.

Union City (2-1) plays Friday at Randolph Southern.

Girls basketball: Union City wins

Courtney Wise led five from Union City in double figures Tuesday night as she scored 26 points in an 86-39 win over Cowan.

Wise added 11 rebounds. Raelynn Mills and Justiss Cantu each added 18 points, while Kora Kerns and Baylee Hartman netted 10 each.

Hartman grabbed 15 rebounds, while Mills finished with 13. Cantu had eight assists and five steals, Bradbury five assists and Wise four blocks.

Union City (2-3) plays host Dec. 10 to TEC foe Centerville.

Girls basketball: Tigers fall to Raiders

Gabby Willis scored 14 points and Kaley Caudill added 10 for Hagerstown, but the Tigers couldn’t overcome a slow start in Tuesday’s 49-31 loss at Shenandoah.

The Raiders scored six points on a pair of 3-pointers in the final 33 seconds of the opening quarter to take a 10-2 lead.

Willis added four rebounds for the Tigers (5-1), who play host Thursday to Cowan.

DeAnn Kauffman scored 25 points Tuesday and Faithlan Ellis netted 12 in Union’s 63-41 victory over Mississinawa Valley (Ohio).

Union (5-1) plays Dec. 9 at Lincoln.

Dylan Baker led three in double figures for Northeastern on Tuesday in the Knights’ 54-47 win over Richmond.

Gabe Beatty scored 13 for Northeastern and Logan Lawhorn added 10.

Christian Harvey scored 20 for Richmond.

Middle school basketball: Driver, Southern split

Driver and Randolph Southern split on Tuesday with Driver winning the seventh-grade game 48-35, and Randolph Southern taking the eighth-grade contest 39-26.

Ross Culy scored 13 points and Cole Campbell added 10 for the Driver seventh grade. Gavin Thompson paced the eighth grade with 13 points.
