WAUKESHA – Trenton Pate hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer as UW Marathon County’s men’s basketball team stunned UW-Waukesha 66-65 in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday.
“We really battled with them back and forth,” UWMC coach Bill Gibbs said.
Mason Elsen led the Huskies with 19 points, while John Nyberg chipped in 10 for the Huskies, who improved to 2-0.
The UWMC also were victorious, defeating Waukesha 58-46. The Huskies are 2-0.

WAUKESHA – Jordan Cruz had 16 points and Nicole Teske added 14 as UWMC improved to 2-0 with a road win over UW-Waukesha.
Alexis Woodmansee had a dozen rebounds and Jaz Ross had 11 boards.
Newman pep assembly
There will be a sendoff prep assembly for the Newman Catholic volleyball team before it heads to the state tournament at 7:35 a.m. today. The assembly will be at the Newman Catholic high school gymnasium.
