Ballard High School’s Sean Hammonds committed to play football at Ball State on Sunday.
Hammonds (6-2, 225 pounds) will play a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker position in college.
“I just loved the coaching staff, and the campus really stood out and the business school is amazing,” said Hammonds, who also has offers from Morehead State and Tennessee State.
Ballard coach Mike Jackson said Ball State’s coaches were impressed with Hammonds’ strength and speed. He ran a 40-yard dash in about 4.7 seconds at the school’s camp.
Jackson said Hammonds has benefited from his time playing on Ballard’s basketball team, developing agility while also working hard in the weight room.
Jackson said Hammonds is also a strong leader “who really brings kids together.”
