Sophomore right-hander Luca Daltri fired a one-hitter in his first start of the season as visiting Christian Brothers Academy — ranked No. 4 in the Asbury Park Press Preseason Top 10 — defeated Middletown South, 6-0, on Saturday in a Shore Conference Class A North game.

Daltri struck out 11 and walked one.

Middletown South sophomore pitcher Zach DeRocco broke up the no-hitter with a single with two out in the fourth.

Griffin Arnott had two-run triple to highlight a three-run second inning and went 2-for-3. Brandon Martorano had a two-run homer in the fourth. Daltri had two hits and an RBI.

CBA is now 1-0-1 both overall and in Class A North. Middletown South is 1-1 both overall and in Class A North.

RARITAN 1, MANCHESTER 0: Nick Glensor’s bases-loaded walk with two out in the top of the eighth scored Chris Nicholl and Bruce Strickland pitched seven innings of four-hit ball as the Rockets (1-1) defeated the Hawks (2-2) in a nondivisional game.

Strickland struck out six and walked none.

Marc Edwards was the hard-luck loser. Jon Meaney had two doubles for Manchester.

WALL 5, BRICK MEMORIAl: 4: Senior shortstop Chris Barcas’ two-run single with two out in the top of the sixth gave the No. 2 Crimson Knights (2-0) the lead and senior right-hander Bobby Patterson pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the sixth by getting two line outs as Wall defeated the Mustangs (0-3) in a nondivisional game.

Mike Tancredi began the winning rally with a single. A two-base error on Nick Martinez’s ground ball put runners on second and third before Barcas’ hit.

Patterson pitched three innings of one-hit ball with a strikeout and a walk to earn the win.

JACKSON MEMORIAL 3, MANASQUAN 0: Sophomore Chris Hawryluk pitched a complete-game-three-hitter to pick up his first career victory and Kyle Johnson’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth plated Brandon Janofsky with the only run Hawryluk would need as the No. 3 Jaguars (2-1) defeated the Warriors (1-1) in a nondivisional game.

Hawryluck struck out five and walked none.

Joe DeMaio had an RBI single in the fifth and Rich Rountree had a pinch-hit RBI single up the middle in the sixth.

TOMS RIVER SOUTH 11, CENTRAL 5: Senior center fielder Russell Messler went 4-for-5 with a leadoff solo homer on to the roof in right center in the bottom of the first as the No. 8 Indians (2-1) defeated the Golden Eagles (1-1) in a nondivisional game.

Messler also had an RBI single in the second, when Toms River South broke a 1-1 tie and took the lead for good with two runs. That hit followed a go-ahead run-scoring double by designated hitter Chandler Thompson.

The Indians put the game away by scoring five runs in the fourth Spencer Kapp and Ryan Shiffer each had two-run singles and sophomore Trevor Wagner an RBI double.

Junior right-hander Vinny Scrudato pitched 423 innings of three-hit relief to pick up the victory. He struck out five. Wagner retired the final three batters to pick up the save.

Andrew DiPiazza had a booming two-run homer to left in the seventh and Frank Rose and Jake Dominguez had run-scoring singles in the first and sixth innings respectively for Central.

TOMS RIVER NORTH 12, JACKSON LIBERTY 2: Mike Tiplady went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBI, Kevin Blum was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and scored a run and Joe Venditto continued his torrid hitting by going 2-for-3 with three RBI as the No. 6 Mariners (3-0) defeated the Lions (0-3) in a nondivisional game.

Venditto is 7-for-9 on the season with eight RBI.

Anthony Ferlise was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Brandon Fischer had a two-run single and Jeff Ciervo had two RBI.

Steve Slagmolen pitched a six-hitter. He struck out three and walked two.

HOLMDEL 16, CARTERET 5: Junior outfielder outfielder D.J. Goins went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a triple and five RBI in four plate appearances with three doubles and a triple as the Hornets (1-1) defeated the Ramblers in a nonconference game.

Jack Flanagan, Ashwin Jain, and Tyler Fischer each had three hits for Holmdel.

SHORE 9, LONG BRANCH 0: Senior Andrew Schultz pitched five innings of one-hit ball and senior shortstop Clayton Coffey went 3-for-3, scored two runs and had an RBI as the Blue Devils (1-1) defeated the Green Wave (0-3) in a nondivisional game.

Schultz struck out three and walked one.

Nick Blaney had two doubles and an RBI.

BRICK 10, MATER DEI 0: Sophomore left-hander pictcher Chirichello pitched four innings of three-hit ball and struck out seven and walked one, Nick Zbranak had four RBI and Dan Berg and Steve Schirm both went -for-3 as the Greenm Dragons (2-1) defeated the Seraphs (1-2) in a nondivisional game.

Berg also scored three runs and had two RBI and junior shortstop Carmen Sclafani was 2-for-2, scored three runs and stole a base.
