Matt Cosentino led Shore Regional to 3-1 Class A Central victory over Monmouth on the back of a complete-game three-hit performance in which the senior struck out five and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
Cosentino provided the Blue Devils (7-6, 5-5) a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when he belted a solo home run, before Shore added a run on a passed ball in the fifth inning, and extended the lead to 3-0 in the seventh on a Nick Blaney RBI single.
Shore’s Matt McCarthy and Andrew Schulz each had two hits in the victory.
Tim Reynolds ended Cosentino’s no-hit bid with one out in the sixth inning, while Joe Berner plated the Falcons (9-5, 7-4) lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
CENTRAL 2, LACEY 1: Andrew DiPiazza threw a complete-game two-hitter, striking out 11 and walking two as the Golden Eagles (7-5) edged the Lions (4-8) in this nondivisional meeting.
Central scored both its runs on successful squeeze bunt attempts in the second and sixth innings, while Lacey’s Conor Davies had an RBI single in the third.
WALL 6, RED BANK 2: Tyler Swiggart scattered nine hits and struck out six in a complete-game effort for his sixth win of the season as the Crimson Knights (12-1, 9-0) defeated the Bucs (4-9, 2-6) in this Class B North game.
Ryan Orender and Dan Wondrack each had two hits and drove in a pair in the win.
OCEAN 3, FREEHOLD 1: Ryan Lillie scattered six hits and struck out five in a complete-game effort for his third victory of the season as the Spartans (8-5, 6-3) earned the Class B North victory over the Colonials (7-9, 4-5).
Anthony Bartolomei put ocean up early by delivering a two-run double in the the bottom of the third inning, while Sam Maxwell and Frank Henry each had two hits for Ocean.
LAKEWOOD 8, BARNEGAT 2: Jason Jerez and Ivan Marks each finished 2-for-3 with a double and a home run as the Piners (7-8, 3-7) earned the Class B South victory over the Bengals (8-4, 6-4).
HOWELL 2, MANALAPAN 1: Rob Napolitano scored in the second inning on a Jake Marsh RBI double, and extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run, his third of the year, as the Rebels (5-7, 4-6) defeated the Braves (8-8, 4-6) in this Class A North battle. Ryan Wares picked up the win with a complete-game four-hitter.
JACKSON LIB. 3, POINT BORO: James Sofield improved to 3-1 on the year after six shutout innings of three-hit ball in which he struck out nine and walked two as Lions (9-4, 7-3) defeated the Panthers (5-6, 5-4) in this Class B South game.
Point Boro’s Mike Dunham was the tough luck loser as three unearned runs spoiled his complete-game three-hit effort, in which he struck out four and walked one.
BRICK MEM. 3, SOUTHERN 2: Kyle Cala’s fifth inning RBI double scored Joe Pipher with the eventual game-winning run as the Mustangs (6-7, 6-4) defeated the Rams (4-9, 2-8) in this Class A South game. Tyler Goodman scattered four hits and struck out eight in a complete-game effort for his second win.
