Benedictine High School rising senior football player Jerome Baker has been selected to play in the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, according to a report by 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.
The two-way gridiron star was one of five Northeast Ohioans and 400 total athletes to be nominated in May to play in the prestigious postseason all-star game in San Antonio on Jan. 3.
The game, which annually features some of the nation’s best high school senior football players, will air live on WKYC-TV Channel 3 and all NBC-affiliated stations.
Playing running back and linebacker for the Bengals, Baker has proven to be one of the state’s top college prospects. As a junior, he totaled 1,400 rushing yards as the team’s top offensive threat and recorded 120 tackles as a leader on defense.
Baker, who has received a slew of scholarship offers, is expected to give a verbal pledge to his top choice on Friday. The frontrunners to land the 6-foot-1, 205-pound student-athlete are believed to be Ohio State, Florida and Tennessee.
