BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Biddeford Tiger football is one step closer to moving from Class A to Class B.

The Biddeford school committee voted unanimously Tuesday night to move the program to class B in 2015. The issue will now go to the Maine Principal’s Association classification committee for consideration. After that, the MPA interscholastic management committee will hold a final vote.

Biddeford has 775 students enrolled in high school, that’s 100 below the Class A cut off. School officials say the move is necessary because of declining enrollment.

The Tigers were 4-4 in the regular season in 2013 and will play Class A ball again in 2014. They start their season on September 5 in Standish against the defending Class A Champions, the Bonny Eagle Scots.
