Blackford announced Wednesday that it has appointed Troy Burkhart to be its new boys basketball coach. Burkhart was approved at a board meeting Tuesday night.
Burkhart comes to Blackford from Indian Creek, where he served as the junior varsity coach. He replaces Dave Marshall at Blackford, who went 43-63 in five seasons with the Bruins. Marshall resigned last month to spend more time with his family.
The 2013-14 Bruins team went 8-13 with a senior-laden roster, so Burkhart will be faced with considerable turnover as he starts his tenure. Burkhart will teach social studies at Blackford Junior High School.
