Mountain Vista beat Douglas County 75-59 in a Continental League game Friday night at Douglas County High School.
It wasn’t really important who started this game, but rather who finished it.
Vista senior Bailey Roby entered the game in the final minutes. Roby wear two prosthetic legs and was recently told by CHSAA that they were a safety concern and he could no longer play. After a 9NEWS interview with state organization officials decided to allow Roby to play so long as the opposing team approved it.
Roby was cleared to play Friday night against Douglas County. He did enter the game late in the fourth quarter with the Golden Eagles in firm control. Roby missed his only shot but did come up with a big block on the defensive end.
Mountain Vista improved to 16-1 with the victory.
Afterwards, Roby said, “I’m just glad I’m back on the court to play, make some three’s, do some layups and block…I get to play again.”
