Boys basketball roundup: Rudolph leads North past GB Preble

Nick Rudolph knocked down six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 26 points, propelling Sheboygan North’s boys basketball team to a 54-51 win at Green Bay Preble on Tuesday night.

Eli Belmore added 13 points and Davis Larson had 11 more for the Golden Raiders (5-12, 5-7 Fox River Classic Conference), which got up on the Hornets (9-9, 5-7) and hit free throws in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Rudolph hit several from the line in the fourth, and Belmore had the final two to give North a three-point lead. Preble missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Larson added a team-high 10 rebounds. Conner Kraft led Preble with 18 points.

Brett Mueller had 38 points with six 3-pointers and Jordan Toeller added 17 points with three 3-pointers as Kohler (5-10, 3-10 CLC) held off a late rally by Sheboygan Christian (6-10, 5-6 CLC) to preserve the home win.

“He’s a shooter, I think everyone knows that,” Kohler coach Ken Roeder said of Mueller. “He can do some things to get to the basket. He is a fast guy, a quick guy. He played very well, but credit to our guys for finding him when he was heating up.”

Down 29-27 at halftime, the Blue Bombers outscored the Eagles 26-14 in the third quarter.

For Christian, Josh Stecker had 19 points with four 3-pointers, Caleb Kelley had 17 points and Graham VerVelde added 12.

Five players knocked down 3-pointers as Lutheran remained unbeaten in the CLC with the road win.

Tyler Zastrow scored 18 points, Jeff Hess had 15 and Jacob Jurss had 13 more for the Crusaders, now 15-2, 12-0 CLC. Those three, along with Taylor Zastrow and Jacob Ames, knocked down 3’s.

“I was extremely proud of our team,” said Random coach Joe Stroede. “Lutheran is an excellent team, they really moved the ball. We refused to quit.”

Aaron Rathke had 15 points and five rebounds and Andy Fechter added 10 points, four rebounds and three blocks for the Rams (5-12, 3-8).

Ozaukee (7-9, 5-6 CLC) was led by Jake Wolff and Hunter Radtke who each had 15 points. Wolff had five 3-pointers and Radtke had four.

Mike Richter added 10 points for Ozaukee.

The Resorters played their style and trailed just 20-15 at halftime before the host Tigers got aggressive and outscored them 34-12 in the second half of the CLC contest.

“We came out second half and did a nice job attacking and crashing the glass,” said Howards coach Eric Worth.

Ethan Brinkman hit three 3’s and scored 13 points, while Austin Edge and Jonah Gerber each added 10 points for the Tigers (10-7, 7-5).

Antonio Bett paced Elkhart Lake (5-11, 2-9) with 10 points.

Also in double figures for the Rockets were Ryan Lemmermann (13) and Josh Weiss (15).
