Boys golf roundup: Fowler earns District 4 title

Austen Feldpausch and Derek Bengel each fired a 78 to lead Fowler to a Division 4 district team title on Thursday at the Emerald.

They trailed only medalist Nolan Schneider of Jackson Christian, as the Eagles compiled 329 strokes to Fulton’s 356 and Pewamo-Westphalia’s 370.

Fulton’s Gregg Jones shot an 85 that tied for fifth place with Pewamo-Westphalia’s Alex Keilen and Fowler’s Joseph Smith.

Another CMAC team, Bath, fnished sixth among the six teams who qualified for the Division 4 regional on Thursday at Muskegon Country Club.

Lansing Christian’s Tucker Riffle (85) and Nick Jamieson (90) and Webberville’s Austin Walker (86) were among the six individuals not on the six top teams who advnaced to regionals.

DIVISION 3 at JACKSON: Leslie quallified for regionals with a fifth-place finish at the Cascades Golf Course.

Carson Riehl and Casey Swan each shot an 86 to tie for 11th for the Blackhawks, who will compete in the regional on Thursday at Rustic Glen Golf Club in Saline.

DIVISION 3 AT LINWOOD: Jay Green fired a 79 to earn medalist honors and help Alma take third place in the district at Maple Leaf Golf Course.

Luke Mallory shot an 81 to take third place individually for the Panthers, who advance to the regional on Wednesday at Glenbrier Golf Course in Perry.
