Boys golf roundup: Valders takes 2nd at OC meet


Josh Salm shot a four-over par, 76 as the Valders boys golf team finished second at the Olympian Conference meet on Wednesday at Hickory Hills Golf Club in Chilton.

Salm’s score, which was the best mark among area competitors, placed him in a three-way tie for second, individually.

Roncalli took third as a team. Sam Schneider led the Jets with an 11-over, 83. He tied for seventh.

Kyle Curry paced Mishicot with an 89, while Reedsville’s Nathan Dietrich also carded an 89.

Valders finished in second in the final conference team standings which awards points for performances in OC dual meets as well as the conference tournament.

Five area players found themselves on the all-conference team.

Salm and teammate Tyler Miller represented Valders, while Roncalli’s Schneider and Logan Theisen also made the team along with Reedsville’s Dietrich.

EWC Championship

Kiel and Two Rivers tied for seventh at the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Championship Meet at Whispering Springs Golf Club in Fond du Lac.

Two Rivers’ Dayne Rusch fired a nine-over, 81. He tied for sixth, individually.

Kiel’s Terren Driscoll, Nick Goecks, and Grant Konen finished in a tie for 26th after each shooting a 95.

Two Rivers and Kiel tied for seventh in the final conference standings.

Rusch earned first-team all-conference honors.
