The historic start continues for the Our Lady of Lourdes High School boys lacrosse team.
Billy Wagner scored the game winner off an assist from Luke Rispoli with about a minute remaining as the Warriors tipped host Ardsley 6-5 on Tuesday.
Lourdes, competing in its third year at the varsity level, is off to a 3-0 start for the first time in program history. The Warriors never opened a season with a win before this year.
“It’s awesome,” Lourdes coach Chris Malet said. “It’s nice to see all the hard work pay off. I don’t know where we’ll end up at the end of the season, but we’ll try to keep winning as long as we can.”
Andrew Bulson and Wagner finished with two goals apiece, and Jim Daly and Eugene Valoy each added one goal for the Warriors, who trailed 4-1. Dillon Rispoli had three assists, and goalie Matt Sayegh stopped nine shots.
Lourdes travels to take on Peekskill on Thursday.
“They have this attitude they are not going to lose,” Malet said.
