Boys tennis roundup: Host Lincoln goes 3-0 at quad

The Manitowoc Lincoln boys tennis team went a perfect 3-0 at its own quadrangular meet on Saturday at Lincoln Park.

The Ships opened up with a 4-3 win over Fox River Classic Conference foe Green Bay Southwest. David Wronkowski, Derek Rohrer, and Jim Lee each recorded wins in singles competition for Lincoln, while Parker Wood and Ryan Specht accounted for the Ships’ win in doubles.

Manitowoc cruised over Port Washington, 7-0 in the second round. Logan Swanson notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.

Lincoln ended the day by edging Roncalli 4-3.

With the team score tied at three apiece, Sam Englebrecht and Steven Manis found themselves down a set and trailing in the second at No. 2 doubles. The tandem rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, (11-9) win over Anthony Marchlewski and Lukas Peterson to lift the Ships to victory.

Roncalli finished the day 1-2.

The Jets topped Port Washington 5-2 in the opening round before falling to Green Bay Southwest 4-3.

Brett Giesen went 3-0 on the day at No. 1 singles, while Zach LeVene also carried an unblemished mark through the day at No. 2 singles.
