BRUNSWICK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — The Brunswick football team took a step away from boot camp Wednesday and started their evening work-out session with a bunch of ice buckets.
Players said they’ve seen friends and family take the Ice Bucket Challenge and they wanted to participate to raise awareness and money. Plus, they said it is a good team building activity.
ALS funds have surged since the challenge got started and the ALS Association has seen more than $4 million in donations.
Coaches said they hope the team will learn more about this disease and why a cure is so important.
“The relationship between the two. The fact that they’re working their tail off in here – imagine those people with ALS every day,” said Kelsey Bison of Coastal Performance.
After throwing the ice over theri heads they challenged two other football teams – Mt. Arratt football and Morris football.
