Danielle Lawrence scored a game-high 23 points and added seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Butler High School girls’ basketball team to a 79-56 victory over Franklin County in Saturday’s semifinals of the Republic Bank/Coca-Cola Louisville Invitational Tournament at Christian Academy.

Janna Lewis scored 13 points and Allison Just added 12 as Butler (17-2) – No. 3 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings – advanced to face Sacred Heart, which beat top-ranked Anderson County 66-57, in Saturday’s 8 p.m. championship game at Christian Academy.

Butler led 24-9 after one quarter and never looked back against No. 7 Franklin County (16-4), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped. The Bearettes led by as many as 34 points, 66-32, late in the third quarter.

Butler shot 51.9 percent, including an 11-for-20 clip from 3-point range.

Dasia Kilbourne scored 15 points to lead Franklin County.
