Byrd rallied in the second half, outscoring Southwood 43-28 after intermission as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Cowboys 78-69 in a crucial matchup for superiority in District 1-5A Friday night at C.E. Byrd High School.

With the win, Byrd (25-5, 7-2 district) maintains a tie with Captain Shreve at the top of the district standings heading into its final regular-season game Tuesday at Parkway. Chad Lott scored a game-high 27 points, while David Holmes fired in 21 and Kory Ashley added 12.

Terion Bell led four Cowboys in double figures with 17 points as Southwood fell to 17-11 and 6-3 in district going into its season finale Tuesday at Haughton. John Parker dropped in 14 points, Daterrius Hubbard poured in 13 and Tyrek Jones added 12.

Captain Shreve 68, Parkway 58: At Captain Shreve, the Gators sprinted out to an early lead and took care of the Panthers to maintain a tie atop the District 1-5A leaderboard with Byrd.

Jesse McWright continued his excellent play, leading all scorers with 27 points as Shreve improved to 15-9 and 7-2 in district heading into Tuesday’s regular-season finale at Airline. Toronco Loston added 15 points for the Gators.

William McKnight scored 12 points and Brodrick Jefferson dropped in 11. as Parkway dropped to 11-13 and 3-6.

Airline 64, Haughton 51: At Haughton, the Vikings overcame a sluggish start by outscoring the Bucs 37-20 in the second half to pick up the District 1-5A road win.

Five Airline players scored in double figures, led by K.J. Bilbo with 14. Austin Brannon pumped in 12 points, Larry Robinson dropped in 11, and Robby Dooley and Noah Hildebrand had 10 each as the Vikings improved to 10-18 and 4-5.

Huntington 94, North DeSoto 47: At North DeSoto, the Raiders get one of their biggest wins this season as they secure the District 1-4A title. Huntington, ranked No. 8 in the latest LHSAA Class 4A unofficial power ranking, finish the regular season at 24-2.

Loyola 78, Woodlawn 71: At Loyola, the Flyers built a 17-point halftime lead then held off a second-half rally to defeat the Knights in District 1-4A action.

Eldrick English scored 28 points, Dominique Kennedy fired in 22 and Drekaleus Williams added 11 as Loyola improved to 19-10 and 6-4 in district.

Evangel 49, Green Oaks 38: At Evangel, the Eagles held the Giants without a double-digit scorer to pick up the District 1-3A victory.

Edgar Henix scored a game-high 15 points and Tim Stokes dropped in 13 as Evangel improved to 16-12 and 5-4 in district.

GIRLS

Fair Park 81, Minden 37: At Fair Park, the District 1-4A champion Lady Indians rolled to a big victory over the Lady Tiders to complete an unbeaten district season.

Senior Savonya Robinson scored a career-high 31 points, including seven 3-pointers, and had eight assists as Fair Park finished the regular season at 19-9 and 10-0 in district. Dominique Johnson added 22 points and 11 rebounds.

North Caddo 86, Lakeside 41: At Lakeside, the Lady Rebels wrapped up their regular season with a convincing win over the Lady Warriors to complete an unbeaten record in District 1-2A.
