The Byrd Yellow Jackets picked up a couple of close victories on Saturday in the Jason Bland Memorial Tournament.
Byrd got past Ruston 5-4 in eight innings behind the pitching of John Snyder (1-2). Eric Miller went 2-for-4 in the contest.
The Yellow Jackets also slipped past Iowa 11-10 with Caleb Brooks posting his first win of the season on the mound. Dylan Knotek picked up the save, while Andrew Suggs went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Byrd. Brad Whittington posted a 4-for-5 effort for Iowa.
Loyola 7, Pineville 5: Whit Walker pitched and slugged the Flyers to the win over Pineville on Saturday. Walker picked up the win on the mound while going 2-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate. Edward Hussey added a 2-for-3 mark for Loyola.
Airline 3, Ouachita Christian 2: Chase Rivers slammed a home run for the Vikings in the win over OCS on Saturday. Rivers had two RBIs, while Zach Beene posted a triple and Cameron Taylor, the winning pitcher, added a double.
Lakeside 20, Huntington 0: Jake Gray was one of six Lakeside players with multiple hits in the tournament game completed before the rain hit. Coulson White, Cameron Corely, Chase Woodall, Luke Griffith and Chris Brantley each had a pair of hits, while Gray tossed a no-hitter.

Haughton 6, Florien 1: The Lady Bucs got a home run from Savannah O’Neal in defeating defending LHSAA Class B state champion Florien on Saturday in the Ouachita Tournament.
Despite Times All-Area Pitcher of the Year Abbey McMillian posting 9 strikeouts for the Lady Blackcats, Haughton came up with 6 hits, including a double by Brooke Payton and a 2-RBI single by Haley Krumpelbeck. Florien was led by Meghan Burkett with a triple in her 2-for-3 effort off winning pitcher Anna Dies. Bailey McCleary and Kaitlin Davis added doubles for the Blackcats.
Captain Shreve 11, Houma 0: The Lady Gators got three hits from Anna Dunn in a blow out of the Lady Warriors. Abby Smith took the win on the mound for Shreve in the Grace Christian Tournament.
Buckeye 5, Captain Shreve 4: The Lady Gators narrowly lost their finale in the Alexandria-based tournament on Saturday despite a 2-for-4 effort from Tyler Cummings and a strong pitching performance from Charlieann O’Brien. McKayla Brown pitched the win for Buckeye and put up a pair of hits.
North Webster 13, Loyola 1: Amberlee Nix allowed just four hits in the win over the Lady Flyers in the Lakeside Tournament. Jaslyn Winkler had three hits, while Shay Smith and Lexi Baker posted two hits apiece for the Lady Knights.
