The Calvary Lady Cavs made short work of Lakeview in the opening round of the LHSAA Class 2A state playoffs, winning 15-0 in the three-inning contest.
Sarah Chamberlain ran her record to 18-4 with the pitching win while not giving up a hit to the visitors. Marissa Reed and Taylor Hammock posted a pair of doubles for coach Tiffany Bruton, while Lizzy Lafisca was 2-for-3 and Jordan Fielder had a single double.
The Lady Cavs (26-5) will go on the road to play Oak Hill in the second round either Friday or Saturday, depending on weather forecasts.
North DeSoto 7, Neville 0: At Stonewall, Katie May went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Lady Griffins. Bayli Simon, Emily Henderson and Maddie Burchell each had two hits in support of EC Delafield.
North Webster 12, Berwick 4: At Springhill, the Lady Knights put up four runs in the first inning and coasted to the 3A playoff victory. Jaslyn Winkler and Casssie Thomas had two hits apiece and Brianna Murray had two for North Webster. Coach Tony Mullins’ club now travels to Buckeye for a 6 p.m. Friday contest.
Ursaline Academy 9, Northwood 4: At New Orleans, the Lady Falcons picked up eight hits, but left too many stranded in falling in the Class 4A playoff opener. Stormi Murray went 3-for-4 with a double and Meghan Simms was 2-for-3 for Northwood (10-17). Sadie Murray took the loss, while Jenna Jurisich got the win and had three hits.
Northshore 10, Airline 9: At Slidell, the Lady Vikings jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead but gave it up late and lost in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Carly McIntosh and Cheyenne Hutchins had three hits apiece, while Katie Smith, Miranda Young and Ashley Salinas had two hits each in the Lady Vikings’ 14-hit attack.
Denham Springs 10, Captain Shreve 4: At Denham Springs, the Lady Gators allowed runs in each of the first six innings and Mackenzie took the loss for Shreve. Hannah Huckabee had one of Shreve’s four hits in the contest.
Ouachita 6, Parkway 0: At Monroe, Kelsey Gallman and Kaytlyn Guerrero each had hits for the Lady Panthers in the 5A playoff loss, which ended the season for Parkway (12-16). Carol Cash absorbed the loss in her last outing as the only Parkway senior.
Lakeside 15, Lakeview 0: Chase Woodall had a home run, a double and six RBIs to lift Lakeside (18-10, 8-1) to the easy win. Coulson White, Josh Prince and Jake Gray had two hits apiece in the win.
