CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Catholic High School made a statement in the second round of the playoffs Friday, dominating visiting High Point Central 49-17.

The Cougars were on top from the very first play of the game, when Jaret Anderson returned the opening kick 95 yards for a touchdown. On High Point Central’s first possession, the Cougar defense rose up, stopping the Bison on fourth down inside the 10 yard line. When Catholic took over, Ryan Miller rumbled 80 yards down the left sideline for a 14-0 Catholic lead.

Following a botched punt, High Point Central took over inside the Cougars’ 20, but had to settle for three points. Catholic made the Bison pay when Ryan Miller took a fourth down toss 20 yards to give Catholic a 21-3 lead midway through the second quarter. Jaret Anderson capped off a near flawless first half with a touchdown rush to give Catholic a 28-3 lead at the half.

Charlotte Catholic cruised to the easy 49-17 victory and will play Reagan High School in the third round next Friday.
