This is hardly breaking news, but Kobe Bryant is an absolute phenomenon, and he always has been. Fresh off a whirlwind tour of Asia, a now-almost ancient video of Bryant torching another Pennsylvania high school while a junior at Lower Merion surfaced.
Needless to say, it showcases some of the skills that would later emerge as a hallmark of Bryant’s game: tenacity, persistence, an accurate stroke from behind the arc and a knack for coming up big in the latest stages of the game.
In this case, Bryant came through with 29 of his 35 points in the second half, and 18 of those 29 in the fourth quarter. Sure sounds like Kobe, doesn’t it?
Nothing in this video is revolutionary, but it’s still fun and well worth a few minutes to soak in. Enjoy it, and then thank the good folks at For The Win for digging it out of the ether for the rest of us to take stock of.
