GREENWOOD VILLAGE – Cherry Creek looked dominant in their season opener, as they defeated Rock Canyon 9-3 Wednesday night.
The Bruins got off to a hot a start and entered the half with a 7-0 lead. Rock Canyon locked down on defense in the second half and after two quick goals in the third quarter looked like they were going to stage a comeback, but the Cherry Creek defense quickly tightened up and slowed down the Jaguars.
Ryan Arthur was the teams leading scorer with three goals on the night and one assist.
Creek will play Overland next, tomorrow at 8 p.m. and Rock Canyon, who fell to 1-1, will host Brighton Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
