The Chillicothe Cavaliers girls tennis team lost their first match Wednesday against Hilliard Davidson 4-1.

The doubles team of Hannah Arth and Carly McCloy won the Cavs’ only match, defeating the Wildcats’ Annie Roo and Josie Daazig 7-6 and 6-2.

Hilliard Davidson’s Sarah Tucker and Grace Wilson won the other doubles match against Amiel Shearer and Madeline Digges 6-2, 6-2.

Heather Haynes defeated Bekah Ray 6-1, 6-0; Hilliary Hunt defeated Jera Copley 6-1, 6-3 and Mallory Wilson defeated Brittany Harper 6-4, 6-0 in the singles matches.

“This was a good match for us,” Chillicothe coach Janet Disbennett said. “Everyone was competitive in their matches even though the scores did not reflect that.”

Chillicothe is 2-1 overall and will return to South Central Ohio League play as they host Miami Trace at 4 p.m. today at Ohio University-Chillicothe.
