Chimezi Metu, a four-star power forward from Lawndale, Calif., signed his letter of intent to play at Southern California in a ceremony at his high school.
Metu is ranked No. 49 overall by the 247Sports composite, the No. 11 power forward in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of California. Metu had committed to USC last May and becomes one of the highest-rated players to sign with a Pac-12 school this year.
At 6-9 and 210 pounds, Metu can guard interior players and is most comfortable near the basket on offense but also can float to the outside.
USC beat out Arizona State, Cal, Creighton and Harvard.
He joins Bennie Boatwright, a 6-7 small forward from Mission Hills, Calif., who is ranked No. 61 overall, as part of the Trojans’ early class.
