JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — University Christian Softball Coach Chuck Roberts knows a thing or two about his star player senior shortstop and catcher Heather Roberts. She also happens to be his daughter.
Coach Roberts has been coaching Heather since she was 10 years old and he says he knew at an early age that Heather could ball.
Since that time coach Roberts has been pushing Heather to get better and better every year.
Heather will tell you there’s been no offseason for her since she started playing softball.
The hardwork has paid off in a big way, Heather is University Christian’s career leader in batting average, homeruns and RBI’s.
Coach Roberts says he knows its hard playing for your dad but he believes pushing Heather to the limit is a big reason why she’s developed into one of the best softball players not only in University Christian history but on the First Coast.
Heather will attend Seminole State College in Sanford, Florida, and admits it will be different not having her dad as her coach for the first time since she started playing softball.
University Christian is in the FHSAA regional semifinals for the first time in school history and will face Mount Dora Bible Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Liberty Field.
