Jayson Wullbrandt, Head Coach
1.) How have the offseason workouts been for your team? How many players are returning?
They have been great. We started with Olympic style wrestling, and that continued into camp at our highs school (25 kids) and Oregon State (15 kids). We also had two kids go back to the Junior National Freestyle and Greco National Championships in Fargo N.D. in July. Both Kyle Anderegg and Johnny Nguyen got great experience there.
2.) What will be your team’s biggest challenge?
Filling a lineup with quality, experienced wrestlers. We can fill a lineup, but trying to keep younger and less skilled athletes on their level (say a freshman on the freshman team, and not the varsity 106 lb. guy), is always a battle.
3.) What are you expecting from your team this season?
We expect to contend for a trophy at state. It will take a superb effort from all of our kids, but we feel as if it is in reach.
4.) What players should fans watch out for this season?
Our top four wrestlers, Kyle Anderegg, Johnny Nguyen, Austin Brittle, Zach Jett
5.) What game are you looking forward to most this season?
The David Douglas Match
6.) What teams, besides your own, do you think are the top contenders in your league?
David Douglas, Oregon City, Centennial
