WEST SENECA, N.Y. – In girls soccer, Clarence beat West Seneca West 4-1 on Thursday night.
The Red Devils got things going on offense quickly. Just 12 minutes in, Sydney Cerza struck first for Clarence. Then just 5 minutes later, Abigail Pfenter made it a 2-0 Clarence lead. With just 9 minutes left in the first half, Brianna Rice tacked on another for the Red Devils. Amanda Burns scored the last goal for Clarence.
West Seneca West’s lone goal came from Paige Cocina. Defensively for Indians, goalie Lauren Fibich had 11 saves on 15 shots.
After the game, West Seneca West head coach Jenn Bell assessed her team’s performance, “ I felt we played about 20-25 minutes of bad soccer, getting away from our game. We sat back and watched Clarence play with the ball. We played much better in the second half but Clarence, as always, was a very skilled team and were overall a little bigger and faster than us.”
Overall after the game, Clarence head coach Tom Furminger seemed pleased with his team, “I thought we had good possessions and we had a bunch of chances before we broke through. I thought we played well top to bottom we got every kid in.”
