“Sweet Home looks to repeat”

Sweet Home will have two of the best players in WNY in Brandon Smiley and Jordan Evert. Panthers should make it to the Class A Championship Game at the Stadium for the 7th consecutive year.

Williamsville South will be explosive offensively with Sam Castronova, Matt Foster, jake Huber and Kam Varner.

Vikings are always competitive and have one of the top coaching staffs in WNY in Dean Santorio, Steve Steck and Mike Stauffer. Jarod Brandon has potential to be a 1000 yd rusher.

North Tonawanda will competitive. The Lumberjacks were led by one of the top players in SR QB Chris Woodard who accounted for 2441 yds and 20 tds rushing and passing last season.

Williamsville East could be a sleeper this year and will have one of the top lines led by Chris Tideswell, Pat Faracca and Aiden Lecavalier. Spartans will be led by RB Austin Bratek and Eric Yaeger.

Kenmore East should be improved this year with Matt Rymarczyk and Kurt McGowan.

Riverside hasn’t won a game in 2 yrs and 2014 could be another long season for the Frontiers.

Grand Island: Vikings have new complex including turf and lights. Play of QB will be key this season.

Williamsville East: Line should be strength. Tideswell is a solid player.

Starpoint: Offense needs to put points on board.

Kenmore East: Rymarczyk and McGowan will be defensive impact players

Riverside: Frontiers has a 15 game losing streak. They will be more competitive this season.

Panthers have recorded a 21-2 varsity record and a JV record of 16-2 mark past 2 seasons. Lost sectional title game to Williamsville North. Have 6 starters on both sides of the ball returning led by All-WNY candidates Brandon Smiley, Jordan Evert and SR QB Kevin Torrillo who passed for 1483 yds and 19 tds as a JR. The passing combination of Torrillo to Smiley will be one of the best in the State. Defense to anchored by Christian Colon and Steve Iverson who was tackling machine last season. Offense will be explosive with Torrillo, Smiley and Evert. Panthers averaged 33 points last year. Have tough matchup in week 1 as they host last years Class AA title champion Jamestown, matchup with Williamsville South in Week 7 will be game to watch. Will compete for league sectional and state title. Smiley will make All-WNY and All-State. The senior is a special player and leader.

Vikings were upset by Williamsville North in playoffs last season. Lost several quality starters to graduation but return All-WNY candidates Nick Paulini, Chris Aronica and Jarod Brandon who is a potential 1000 yd rusher. Key to season will be play of QB. Have tough matchup in opener at Williamsville North. Will make playoffs. Will host Williamsville South and dedicate new complex in week 3. Brandon recorded 100 yds rushing in final 3 games with a total of 521 yds and 5 tds. He will be a force for the Vikings this season.

Billies will compete for league title if they have right chemistry and leadership. Kraig Kurzanski returns several starters from last years 5-4 team. Key players include QB Sam Castronova who passed for 1680 yds and 16 tds last season. The Kam Varner, Matt Foster and Jeremy Spitzberg line will be anchored by All-WNY candidates 6’5″ 270 lbs JR jake Fuzak and 6’4″ 255 lbs senior Austin Gallagher. Keys to season will be play of RB. Billies open with Kenmore West and play at Sweet Home in week 7. Should compete for league and sectional title.

Jacks have one of top players in WNY in QB Chris Woodard who has already received some scholarship offers. The senior passed for 1553 yds and 9 tds and rushed for 888 yds and 11 tds last season. Jacks recorded a 6-3 record in 2013 and return several starters led by All-WNY candidates; Woodard, Alex Molik who will anchor the line and Taylor Mellott who will anchor the defense. Host Sweet Home in week 3. Will compete for title. Will miss Nehemiah Stone who aged out and is not eligible to play this season. Adam McNeil 6’8″ 190 lbs SR TE will be excellent target for Woodard.

Should be more competitive.
