Class AA North Preview

Williamsville North surprised everyone with its run to the Class A Championship game. Spartans are loaded defensively and on the line. The key to the season will be the play of the QB.

Kenmore West returns the quality players from last year’s 6-3 team, led by Terrell Ford and Jayson Taylor, who was All-League as a Sophomore.

Lockport will compete for the League Title with Tyler Frass at QB and Nick Hamilton at RB.

Niagara Falls could struggle again this year, with only two starters returning on both sides of the ball.

Niagara Wheatfield looks to break their lack of success in recent years, with Brent Tylec in his second year.

Spartans improved from a 3-6 record in 2012 to a 9-4 mark and a berth in the Class A State Championship game. Key players for Mike Mammoliti’s squad are All-WNY Candidates Nick Ames, George Attea and Duke Hwang. Other key players include Jake Ames, Zak Kelly and Jon Becht. Line will be solid, anchored by Attea and Becht. The key to the season will be the play of the QB and to put points on the board. They open with a non-league encounter with Grand Island; they’ll compete for the Title. If the Spartans get quality play from the QB, they could return to the Stadium in the Class AA Championship game. They also moved up a class for this season.
