Fredonia and Pioneer are class of the league.

Fredonia: Matt McCarthy could rush for 2000 yards this season.

Pioneer: The Panthers return 9 starters on defense led by Foster Delc.

Eden: The Red Raiders are always competitive with Chuck Tilley.

Olean: Huskies will be competitive.

Springville: The Griffiths need to develop chemistry for this season to be successful under new head coach Rob Valenti.

East Aurora/Holland: The Blue Devils need to put points on the board.

Dunkirk: The Maurauders need to get back in the win column.

Hillbillies finished 9-1 losing to Cleveland Hill at the stadium. Key players include All-WNY candidate, senior RB Matt McCarthy who rushed for 1600 yards and scored 33 touchdowns last season. The team also consists of Steve Mignoli, Tony Swierk, Jake Rinus, and John Piper who is an excellent athlete. They will miss Weston Ley. The key to the season will be the play of the quarterback. They will compete for the league and sectional titles. They move up a class for this season. They play Burgard and Pioneer in weeks 2 and 3.

Jim Duprey returns 6 on offense and 9 on defense from last years 5-4 team. Key players will be Bryce Little, Tyler Mummery, Ian Moran, Kris Riordan, and Foster Dell who recorded 47 tackles as a sophomore, including 18 for losses. They will compete for league and sectional titles. They host Dunkirk in the opener and Fredonia in week 3.

The Blue Devils will compete for the league title. They return 7 on both sides of the ball and Tim Wade will add talent from 6-2 JV squad. The line will be anchored by Tyler Hall, Ben Nemec, and Dan McCarthy. The offense will be sparked by Tim Volpe, Mike Coatsworth, and Nick Potter. The key to the season will be the play of the quarterback. Clay Lewis, a transfer from Holland, will be a player to watch. They open with Amherst and Pioneer.

Raiders are 11-7 in the past 2 seasons. They will miss Alex Smythe. Chuck Tilley’s squad will be led by Ryan Shaw, Anthony Cummings, Jacob Egrig, and Eamon Crowley. The Raiders are always competitive. They host Albion in the opener.

Huskies lost several quality players to graduation, particularly Will Bathurst, Chance Anzivine, and Luke Hennessey. Key players for Mike Kane include Chuckie Martin, Jared Plaud, who are All-WNY candidates, David Lee, Keefer Williams and Julio Roulo. They will compete for a playoff berth.

The Griffiths have a new head coach in Rob Valenti and assistant coach in Eric Jantzi who previously was assistant at Orchard Park and head coach at North Tonawanda. Key players will be All-WNY candidate junior LB Pat O’Brien, Devin White-Kearn, Chuck Foor, Devin Pazzuti, Bryce Stedman, and Tom Schweickert. They open with Fredonia and Olean. They will be competitive. Griffiths will have to get used to intensity and expectations from new coaching staff which will not accept anything less than 100 percent effort at every practive and game.

Mike Sarrotori returns as head coach replacing Tim Majka after last season’s winless team. They could struggle again. Key players will include Josh Goodwin, Kevin Lidlow, Nick Jones, and Victor Echevarria. They have tough matchups in the first two weeks facing Pioneer and Eden/North Collins. They will improve this season.
