Two Union-Endicott student-athletes have formalized their collegiate intentions, making it 10 members of the school’s Class of 2014 who will compete in athletics at the Division II level or higher.
Joey Orlando will play baseball at Binghamton University, and Skyler Hoyt will play softball at St. Peter’s in Jersey City, N.J.
A three-sport standout at U-E, Orlando is a pitcher/infielder for a squad that on Saturday will attempt to claim the Southern Tier Athletic Conference championship. Hoyt has manned the shortstop position for the Tigers for three seasons.
* Kyle Urban of Maine-Endwell has committed to join the lacrosse program at Binghamton University. He is a four-season varsity starter and multiple-season all-star, and also contributed to the Spartans’ state football champions.
* Harpursville football captains and Section 4 division all-stars Andrew Kimmel, Steven Lee and Jon Andrews intend to continue in that sport at the collegiate level — Kimmel at Buffalo State, Lee at Utica College and Andrews at SUNY Morrisville. All three were two-way starters for a Hornets squad that played to a 7-2 record last autumn.
