THE WINNER: Justine Hall
THE BASICS
School: Regis Jesuit (Aurora, Colo.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Guard
Height: 5-foot-10
Athletic achievement: The 5-foot-10 senior guard led the Raiders to a 24-2 record entering the Class 5A semifinals, scheduled for March 13. Hall averaged 15.9 points, 3.2 steals, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 60.4 percent from inside the arc through 26 games. An Honorable Mention 2014 WBCA All-American, she was named to the All-Tournament team at the Nike Tournament of Champions in December, averaging 16 points in four games.
Academic excellence: Hall has maintained a 3.95 GPA.
Exemplary character: A member her school’s Esprit de Corp peer-leadership group, she is a recipient of the regional Touching Hearts Through Athletics award, which recognizes student athletes for their outstanding character. She has also donated her time on behalf of her church youth group.
THE PRAISE
“Justine Hall is a tough competitor who has improved steadily since her freshman year,” said Tony Speights, head coach at Chaparral. “She has transformed herself into a complete basketball player who can both shoot and defend. Most importantly she is a good teammate and a great person off the floor.”
THE FUTURE: Hall has signed with Purdue.
