Three of the CAAC Blue girls track teams met in the past two weeks as Grand Ledge, Okemos and East Lansing met in dual meet competition on two different days. In the end the Comets fell to the Chiefs 94-73 before dropping a very tough meet to the Trojans 88.50-78.50.

On May 29 at Okemos the depth and field events spelled the difference in the meet.

“We knew this would be a tough meet to win. Our kids were gamers but Okemos just had a little too much for us. Nonetheless I was proud of our kids efforts,” said head coach Fred Hutchinson.

Grand Ledge won the 4×800 relay as Jenna Magness, Morgan Arnouts, Courtney Laudick and Krista Magness crossed the line at 10:34.70

The sprint relay also won first place as the team of Brooke Rambo, Haley French, Nicole Novak and Madison Arnouts raced to a time of 1:49.30 in the 4×200.

Rambo also won the 100-meter dash in 13.10 seconds.

Olivia Conway finished third in the 1600 run in 5:42.70 and Jenna Magness was fourth at 5:45.70.

Laudick placed second in the 400 dash in 1:03.40 and Krista Magness was right behind at 1:05.20. Freshman Gabrielle Westman came in seventh and broke her personal best time at 1:09.10.

Madison Arnouts finished second in the 300 hurdles in 47.20 seconds and Veronica Mills was fourth at 52.70.

The Comets finished two, three and four in the 200 dash as Madison Arnouts ran a 26.50 seconds while Karlie Lambie was third at 27.60 and French fourth at 28.00.

In the 3200 run Conway ran second at 12:27.50 while Rebekka Golisch was fourth at 12:59.90.

The Comets also won the 4×400 relay as Krista Magness, Laudick, Morgan and Madison Arnouts finished at 4:24.07.

Vanessa Mejia-Miller was second in the pole vault with a personal record of 8’6″.

Lambie finished second in the high jump at 4’10” while Mills was also tied at second.

Jordan Mills placed third in the shot put at 27’7″. Leah Edgett was fourth 27’0″.

French finished second in the long jump at 16’7.75″. Rambo jumped 14′.25″.

Mara Clark won the discus throw at 91’9″. Edgett was third at 83’7″ and Mills fourth at 78’1″.

Against the Trojans and Everett Vikings the Comets downed the Vikings 145-21 but fell to the Trojans by an ever so close margin of 10 points.

“This was a tough fought meet for us,” Hutchinson said. “We were shorthanded due to injuries and illness but East Lansing has a very good team and deserves the credit.”

Jemelah Travis finished third in the 100 dash at 13.3 seconds with Novak fourth at 13.7, Rambo fifth at 13.9 and French sixth at 14.2.

Rambo then finished fourth in the 200 dash in 28.1 seconds with Novak fifth at 28.2 and French sixth at 28.7.

Madison Arnouts won the 400 dash in 1:00.4 while Lambie was second at 1:02.9.

Morgan Arnouts came in second in the 800 run at 2:33 and Krista Magness was third at 2:33.4.

Krista Magness then came in second in the mile run at 5:32.8. Conway was fourth at 5:44.8.

Conway came back to place second in the two mile run at 12:06.8 and Golisch was fourth at 12:57.6.

Madison Arnouts won the 100 hurdles in 17.0 seconds and Hannah Len was third at 17.5. Madison also won the 300 hurdles in 51 seconds.

Krista Magness, Lambie and the Arnouts sisters won the 4×400 relay in 4″16.3.

Jenna Magness, Krista Magness, Morgan Arnouts and Patricia Root won the 4×800 relay with a time of 10:37.4.

Lambie and French finished second in the high jump at 4’10” and French came back to win the long jump with a leap of 16’2.5″.

Edgett was second in the discus at 85’5″ and Mills was third at 80’10”.

Mills came in third in the shot put at 28’10” with Edgett fourth at 28’11”.
