Students and community fans wished good luck to the Annandale High School boys basketball team Wednesday afternoon as the team bus left to play the state tournament semifinal game at Target Center. Parents of team members organized the sendoff for the 6 p.m. game. It’s the second year in a row of state tournament play for the Cardinals.
The team bus left the high school at about 1:45 p.m., traveling past the elementary and middle schools before a trip down Oak Avenue in the heart of town. Three coaches, 18 players, seven student managers, the school athletic director and a few others were on the bus.
About 60 band members traveled separately, and a fan bus also followed.
“People are excited,” Athletic Director Luke MacLean said as the school made preparations Tuesday. “It’s a good time of the year.”
