NEW PROVIDENCE – – New Providence senior Ibn Nash ran 14 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns to help the Pioneers beat Roselle Park 20-7 Saturday afternoon at Lieder Field.
New Providence (5-2) bounced back from a 27-26 loss at Bound Brook to keep pace in the North 2 Group I power point race. The Pioneers also stopped a three-game losing streak to Roselle Park (2-5).
Nash scored on runs of 49 and 51 yards, giving him nine rushing touchdowns for the season. He had scored on runs of 49, 53, 36, 12, 1, 80, and 8 and rushed for 547 yards on 54 carries before Saturday’s game. He has also caught touchdown passes of 39, 54 and 40 yards.
Senior tailback Yamato Ejiri scored on a 17 yard run between Nash’s touchdowns. New Providence plays host to Brearley Saturday afternoon.
CRANFORD 30, GOVERNOR LIVINGSTON 13: Senior Rimi Marke rushed for two touchdowns at Frey Field, but Governor Livingston dropped to 2-5. Senior Alex Boyd made 11 tackles and Rob Dilly recovered two fumbles for GL, which plays at Rahway next Saturday afternoon. Cranford, now 8-0, plays host to North Plainfield Friday night at Memorial Field. The Cougars have wrapped up the Mid-State 38 Raritan Division title
