The Croswell Lexington wrestling team placed second overall Saturday at the Swan Valley 8-Team Tournament.
The Pioneers defeated Madison Heights Lamphere 42-33, Ogemaw Heights 36-31, Sanford Meridian 56-16 and Warren Fitzgerald 52-16.
The Pioneers lost to Swan Valley 45-21 in the finals.
130 Brandon Turner (130 pounds), Trevor Woodruff (152) and Collin Lieber (160) each went undefeated on the day for the Pioners.
Richmond B team goes 1-4
WARREN – The Richmond B team was in action Saturday and went 1-4 on the day at the Warren Woods Tower Duals.
Richmond lost to Lapeer 50-21, Walled Lake Central 52-24, Warren Woods Tower 43-27 and Oxford 57-24. They defeated Goodrich 32-28.
Colton McKiernan was 5-0 on the day for Richmond. Jake Hatcher was 4-1.
Port Huron takes third
BIRMINGHAM – The Port Huron wrestling team was 3-2 at the Birmingham Groves Tournament.
Port Huron defeated Troy Athens 58-26, Caesar Chavez 60-12 and Troy 45-30.
Port Huron lost to Fraser 47-36 and South Lyon 48-30.
Brandon Lum (130) and Ivan Nedeljkovich were each 5-0 on the day for Port Huron, which will return Friday at the Macomb County Tournament.
Capac second at own event
Capac went 4-1 Saturday at home to place second at the Capac Team Tournament.
Flint Kearsley was the overall winner with 50.
Capac defeated Norte Dame Prep 64-11, Vassar 72-10, Memphis 54-27 and West Bloomfield 51-23 before falling to Flint Kearsley 52-22.
Brad Harris (215) went 5-0 on the day. Anthony Trudo (112), Carter Smith (145) Jason Tyson (160) and Lathen Mardline (285) each went 4-1.
Yale takes sixth
Yale placed 6th in the 11-team Hartland Tournament. Hartland was first overall.
Tyler Bundon (145) was second, going 3-1 on the day. Brady Bischer (152) was second going 4-1 and Kolton Antilla (119) took 5th after going 3-2.
Marlette team tourney
Algonac went 4-1 at the Marlette team tournament Saturday. The Muskrats finished in a three way tie for first place and took 2nd overall on criteria. Nick Sanford, Nick Fredericks, and Robert Jewell all went 5-0, Josh Poole, Shane Asselin, and Andre Bourlier each went 4-1 for Algonac.
The Port Huron powerlifting team traveled to the Almont Push-Pull meet today and had several standouts.
April Tracy won the 105-pound weight division by lifting 270 pounds. Sydney Grygorcewicz lifted 365 pounds for first place (123 pound class). Aubrey Ruiz was first in the 132-pound division, lifting 345 pounds.
At 155 pounds, Kourtney Thomason won, lifting 365 pounds. Chanel Sheffer won the 165-pound division, lifting 370 pounds. K’Sea Lambert was first in the 185-pound division, lifting 370 pounds.
Croswell Lexington High School took the first place combined team trophy.
The Brown City boys basketball team defeated Armada 46-37 Saturday.
Jeffrey Randolph scored 18 points for Brown City (1-0). Fred Lawson had eight points and five rebounds for Armada (0-1).
