KEY ATHLETES

Lianna Wolf, sr.: Moves to singles this year after finding success – she was a district doubles quarterfinalist a year ago, in doubles last year.

Karen Gutierrez, sr.: Won her first round match at the district meet as a junior last season.

Outlook: The Royal Scots graduated three of their top six players from last year’s team and are developing younger players.

Coach: Mark Kohley, 12th year.

2013 district placing: Third.

KEY ATHLETES

Sandy Childress, jr.: Moves back to singles competition after finding success in doubles – she was the district runner-up – as a sophomore.

Katie Stignei, Megan Thompson, sr.: The co-captains combine to make a doubles team after finding success in singles with a quarterfinal appearance and a consolation championship.

Outlook: The Celtics will not be as deep a team as they were last year, but will have success if their older players continue their development.

North Salem

Coach: Chris Allen, fourth year.

2013 district placing: Fifth.

KEY ATHLETES

Maribel Ocampo, sr.: Placed fourth in the conference last year and qualified for the state meet for the second year in a row.

Outlook: The Vikings have a lot of inexperienced players again.

South Salem

South Salem

Coach: Les McBride, second year.

2013 district placing: Fourth.

KEY ATHLETES

Courtney Hammagren, sr.: Placed third in the conference in singles last year and will contend for the conference championship this season.

Outlook: The Saxons don’t have the depth they’ve had in the past, but should contend for individual district championships.

Coach: Shannon Fraser, fifth year.

2013 district placing: Central Valley Conference champions.

KEY ATHLETES

Hayden Vlahandreas, sr.: A three-sport athlete who placed third in the district in doubles as a junior.

Meghan Daniels, sr.: A talented players who found success as a junior.

Outlook: The team will be young this year after graduating six seniors, but the team has the depth to win a third-consecutive district championship this season.

West Salem

West Salem

Coach: Kimberly Morrison, third year.

2013 district placing: Second.

KEY ATHLETES

Leanne Moore, sr.: A two-time state tournament qualifier in doubles, she’ll be a contender in singles competition this season.

Ella Fadely, sr.: A four-year varsity player, she was a district quarterfinalist as a junior.

Outlook: The Titans have a record turnout this season and have the depth to challenge for the top spot in the conference this season.

Outlook:The Royal Scots don’t return any playes with state tournament experience, but always develop players who compete for placing spots in the Central Valley Conference.

Coach: Lisa Myers Reid, third year.

2013 district placing: Fourth.

KEY ATHLETES

John Reid, sr.: A former state tournament qualifier, he battled back from an injury last season to reach the district doubles quarterfinals.

Zach Staley, sr.: One of the team’s leaders.

Outlook: The Celtics are young and inexperienced overall this season, but the team has good athletes and good students who have the potential to move up.

North Salem

Coach: Keith Kuhn, first year.

2013 district placing: Sixth.

KEY ATHLETES

Ignacio Ocampo, fr.: A young player, but he will make his presence felt in the league this season.

Outlook: The Vikings have the potential to move up this year behind a promising player in Ocampo.

South Salem

South Salem

Coach: James Heyen, first year.

2013 district placing: Second.

KEY ATHLETES

Collyn Erion, sr.: The defending district singles champion, he has committed to play tennis in college at Point Loma Nazarene. He has placed at the state tennis tournament twice.

Gordon Burnham, jr.: A state qualifying singles player as a sophomore last season.

Outlook: The Saxons have the talent to push Sprague for the top spot in the conference again this season.

Coach: Catherine Wheeler, ninth year.

2013 district placing: Central Valley Conference champions.

KEY ATHLETES

Scott Wheeler, sr.: A two-time district champion, singles as a sophomore and doubles as a junior, he is one of the league’s top players.

Corbin Coursey, sr.: The district singles runner-up as a junior last year.

Outlook: The Olympians return five state qualifying players from last year’s team – seniors Daniel Schaub and Ryan Boss and junior Griffin Fraser are the others – and look to extend their string of district championships to nine this season.

West Salem

West Salem

Coach: Justin Amaya, second year.

2013 district placing: Fifth.

KEY ATHLETES

Max Evers and Jarett Whitenack, sr.: The team’s No. 1 doubles team, they won the consolation bracket at the district meet last year.

Cody Lin, fr.: A promising young player who will instantly take over the No. 1 singles position and should be tough for years to come.

Outlook: The Titans should be improved, especially at the top of the lineup this season.
