PUEBLO – Pueblo West’s Haley Simental has verbally committed to play basketball at the University of Denver, according to Cyclones head coach Gil Lucero.

Haley is a coach’s dream. “She’s the first at practice and is the last to leave. She’s a gym rat. She works her tail off… works out on a daily basis. She just loves the game of basketball,” Lucero told 9News.

The 5-7 guard is a 3-time letter winner and has a career average of 12.7 points per game. As a junior, however, she had a breakout season averaging 18.1 points per outing.

Haley helped lead the Cyclones to a 17-8 record last season with a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in the 4A state championships.

Haley had interest from several other D-I schools, including the Air Force Academy.
