School: St. Georges Tech (Middletown, Del.)
Position: Running back
Weight: 165 pounds
Athletic achievement: He rushed for 1,488 yards and 21 touchdowns on 163 carries this past season, leading the Hawks to an 11-1 record and the Division 2 semifinals. Selby averaged 9.1 yards per carry and also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He was an All-State selection at both running back and defensive back as a junior.
Academic excellence: Selby has maintained a B average.
Exemplary character: A youth leader at his church, he has volunteered locally as a peer mentor.
“Selby is a game-changer,” said Glenn Phillips, head coach at Laurel. “He’s got great speed and he can break off a big play from any spot on the field. He’s not a big kid, but he’s got every tool a running back needs, and they use him in a lot of different ways.”
THE FUTURE: Selby has verbally committed to Villanova.
