THE WINNER: Richie Petitbon

THE BASICS

School: Gonzaga College High (Washington, D.C.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Offensive lineman
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 320 pounds

Athletic achievement: He has led the Eagles to a 9-3 record and a berth in the finals of the District of Columbia State Athletic Association AA championship game against H.D. Woodson, scheduled for Dec. 6. Petitbon has recorded 58 pancake blocks through 12 games and helped pave the way for a Gonzaga offense averaging 32.5 points and 338 yards per game. A two-time First Team All-Conference selection, he is ranked as the nation’s No. 35 recruit in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.com, and has been chosen to play in the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game.

Academic excellence: Petitbon has maintained a 3.16 GPA.

Exemplary character: Also a lacrosse standout, he has raised funds to benefit cancer research and the Special Olympics in addition to volunteering locally on behalf of youth football and lacrosse programs.

THE PRAISE

“He’s just a massive young man who is dominant up front,” said Keith Goganious, head coach at Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara. “He’s good with run blocking and pass blocking and he’s very aggressive at the point of attack.”

THE FUTURE: Petitbon has verbally committed to Alabama.
