Draughn volleyball sets high expectations

VALDESE, N.C. — The Jimmy C. Draughn High School Lady Wildcats had a season to remember in 2013. They earned a school record in regular season victories and reached the third round of the state playoffs. The Wildcats finished the regular season 17-6, with 13 of those victories happening in conference play.

Coach Meredith Lutz will have to replace three seniors, but feels confident her girls will increase their level of play.

“Expectations are high, and they set the bar high. I’m excited to see them go after it.”

If Draughn expects to reach last season’s success, they will depend on their returning starters from last year. Kayleigh Betancourt, Sydney Shuping, Kaitlyn Robinson, and Molly McKenze are just a few of the names looking to bring the Wildcats more victories.
