KUSA – The 9NEWS high school ‘Game of the Week’ this week featured No. 5-seed Eaglecrest (5-5) taking on No. 4-seed Legacy (6-4) in the first round of the 2014 Class 5A state football tournament.  Eaglecrest defeated Legacy with a final score of 49-24 to advance to the second round of the tournament next week.

Eaglecrest senior quarterback Elijah Ross had an exceptional performance during the first playoff game, and threw for 368 yards and five touchdowns – and had a sixth on the ground. Senior wide receiver Peter Anderson was also another huge player in the game, and caught three touchdowns for Eaglecrest.

Eaglecrest scored twenty-eight consecutive points in the fourth quarter, while Legacy had a bit of a rough fourth quarter of the game.  Legacy also tallied up a total of six turnovers during the playoff game; four of which were Eaglecrest interceptions.

No. 4 Eaglecrest takes on No. 1, and undefeated in the regular season, Ralston Valley (10-0) at Legacy Stadium at Eaglecrest in the round of sixteen.  The date and time are still to be decided.
