Tarpon Springs, FL – The East Lake Eagles hosted the Countryside Cougars Friday as both teams looked to stay undefeated but only the Eagles would prevailed.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle until Countryside got down to the end zone and was picked off by East Lake’s Justin Strnad.
East Lake couldn’t take advantage of the interception and Countryside got the ball back. A few plays later, the Eagles Jake Hansen picked off Trent Chmelik which led to a 42 yard field goal.
Countryside got on the board and tied it up in the second quarter with a 31 yard field goal, 3-3.
East Lake Jake Hudson with a huge 39 yard completion that sent up a 21 yard touchdown pass to George Campbell, extending the Eagles lead 10-3.

The Cougars threaten to score again but couldn’t get into end zone and settled for a 36 yard field goal.
In the start of the fourth quarter, East Lake went for a 45 yard field goal but missed and still lead Countryside 10-6.
Half way through the fourth quarter, East Lake was called on intentional grounding in the end zone so Countryside ended up with a safety bringing the Cougars within two of the Eagles.
Neither team could score again, making the final 10-8.
Next week, East Lake (7-0) heads to Pinellas Park (6-1) while Countryside (6-1) host Seminole (3-5).
